Has anybody else played Horizon Chase for iOS/Android?

Seeing the tracks at night is a bit of a pain in the ass IMO, and I’d prefer that there were 4-5 fewer opponents and more Nitro pick-ups. Otherwise, I like it.

The engine sounds seem unique as well (unlike other games where there’s one generic sound for each engine/car type), though I admittedly only have two cars at the moment.

It’s free to download; you’ll be able to play a bit of it and then choose whether you want to pay $2.99 for the full game at a certain point.

I’ve got it. Only bought it because I had an unspent gift card. It’s pretty fun, but it gets old kinda quick.

I like the art direction. Might have to check it out. I’m a car/racing mobile game addict. I think I’ve played just about every F2P racing game... except this one.

I also love how these games have unlicensed cars that look exactly like the real thing. Have you played Thumb Drift? It has an impressive collection of unlicensed cars.

Very Cruisin’ USA style. I dig it. I wouldn’t expect a Forza, let alone an Assetto Corsa, on iOS.

I haven’t played that, no’ I’ll check it out.

Horizon Chase plays similarly to older racing games like the Cruis’n series: you’ll knock opponents far ahead when you rear-end them, and you’ll go through a spin-out sequence if you hit something. It’s also rather grind-y; I’ve been racing to accrue enough points for races that’ll unlock the cars/upgrades that I need.

I’m getting a bit tired of the grind, but I’m trying to power through that and get more skilled at the game in general.

Yeah, they definitely remind me of older racing games.

So basically like every other F2P racing game haha. Real Racing 3 is a bit more sim style but it’s extremely grindy. I put way too much time into it. It also takes up 6 GB with all content downloaded so I had to delete it.

LOL. I didn’t master the touch/tilt controls for RR3 and utterly loathed the notification tone, so I deleted it off of my Note II. That was a long time ago, though, so I’m not sure how it’s improved since I got a Galaxy S6; I’ve been thinking about re-downloading it again.

I have to admit I still use TCS and have the brake assist turned to low. I use manual throttle input and tilt steering. As long as you know where to lift and coast, it makes for a pretty smooth ride. I’ve done the manual braking before but since you always start from the back it makes making those first few turns really important.

I’m also really used to having the braking lines in Forza so I’m not that proficient at manual braking without the lines.

Yup, I have. While it does get stale once you finish, it’s basically a love letter to the classic Top Gear games. As a huge fan of those, this is pretty much my favorite mobile game right now.

By the way, if you can get to 120% completion, there are some neat unlockables to ramp up the nostalgia even more.

I saw other franchises in it, as the only Top Gear game that I ever played was Top Gear Rally 2 .

Yeah, Out Run was definitely an influence, as well as several pop culture icons in the cars represented. The studio behind the game is Brazilian though, and I seem to recall them talking about how the original Top Gear (which was huge here in Brazil in the 90's) was a major influence in it. They even got the same guy to come up with the soundtrack.
